Edwin was born in Cherota Village, Marichor Location, Chepkorio Division in Rift valley. He is the second born son to Sammy K Barsoget and Esther J Kosgei. He is brother to Rev. Bennedy  Kipkoech, Gladys Jelagat, Caroline Jebet, Elkana Kipkemoi, Shadrack Kipkogei, Charity Chemutai and Naomi Jepngetich.
 He started his schooling at Cherota Primary School, Plateau pri sc, chororget Pry Sch and sat for KCPE in 2001 at Cherota Primary School. He proceeded to St.Patrick's High School-Iten and later joined Egerton University for a Bachelors degree in Natural Resources Management where he is to graduate in November 2011.Currently he is working as a volunteer in Kenya Forestry Research Institute Nairobi.
A result oriented, self driven, innovative, enthusiastic and dedicated professional with vast knowledge in Natural Resources Management . A proactive individual who can critically and logically approach challenges and with ability to synthesize issues with clarity, maturity and mastery of detail. An individual with a flair for identifying and adopting to emerging trends to analyze and streamline processes, increasing productivity, quality and efficiency. Ability to quickly learn procedures and methods, easily adapt to new situations, communicates in a clear, concise and understandable manner and coordinates well with al levels of personnel. A visionary team player experienced in handling and managing groups from social to professional organizations including students union. An honest and trustworthy good listener who works with great energy, integrity, flexibility and determination.
He is a champion of youth leadership and has been a leader from childhood leading social, religious, professional and charity organizations.In the university he represented students in the Students Union of Egerton  Universit (S.U.E.U) as the Director Health and Transport. He was also the Keiyo South constituency representative in the Keiyo Egerton University  Students association. He is one of the founders of Kitwek Egerton University association among others.
Currently he is working on looking unto the affairs of the people of  Rift valley and Kenya at large with focus on the youth and children. This is being pioneered in Sego Gaa and spread to other regions with the help of other like minded people in the region.
